One brand, one company, one group

LekkaPay is a platform, not a company. The company is African Payment Solutions (Pty) Ltd, the South African payments business that builds and operates it. African Payment Solutions is part of the RCM Group, alongside its sibling company Europe Payment Solutions, which serves merchants in European markets. The structure matters to merchants for a simple reason: you get the focus of a small, senior team that understands the realities of the markets you trade in, with the stability and shared engineering depth of an international group behind it.

Built on 20+ years of payments experience

The platform is new; the experience behind it is not. The team behind LekkaPay has spent more than twenty years building, running and securing payment systems - acquiring integrations, card tokenisation, fraud prevention and settlement operations. LekkaPay is that experience rebuilt the way the team always wanted to build it: cloud-native and serverless-first on AWS, PCI DSS Level 1 compliant, and designed around the dual gateway-and-merchant-account model that growing merchants actually need. We say "built on twenty years of experience" rather than "twenty years old" deliberately - the heritage is the team's, and the platform is better for being younger.

What does "lekka" mean?

"Lekka" is South African slang, a relaxed spelling of the Afrikaans "lekker": great, excellent, exactly as it should be. A braai can be lekka. A payday can be lekka. We chose the name because it says two things at once - this platform is proudly African, and payments, an industry that usually feels anything but, should feel this good. When your checkout converts, your money settles on time and your reconciliation balances to the cent, that is lekka.

African Payment Solutions is led by a small senior team spanning payments engineering, compliance and risk, and commercial operations, with careers built across African, UK and European payments.
